Celebrity Gogglebox star Denise van Outen has revealed she is undergoing therapy after splitting from former partner Eddie Boxshall. The music star, 48, appeared on the Channel 4 show alongside Eddie and dated him for seven years, before announcing in January that they were no longer together.
Denise’s split from Eddie came after she discovered he had been texting other women sexually – a huge breach of trust. Since becoming single again, Denise has opened up about how difficult it was for her to trust potential partners and revealed that she is now seeing a therapist to help her overcome these issues.
Speaking on the Happy Place podcast at Fearne Cotton, Denise admitted that she is currently trying to work with trusted partners again. She told Fearne: “I’ve always had a relationship with an extremely open heart because I always think people are going to be honest and loyal because that’s how I approach everything, and you start to realize that we are not all the same.

“I think it will be a bit of a problem, but it’s just something I’m going to have to work out. But I’m open to it. I’m kind of trying to accept that it was just a small problem in my life and I have to accept it for what it was, learn from it and grow from it.”
Denise added: “You learn more about yourself and try to take the positives out of it rather than the negatives.”
Although Denise is looking to heal from the traumatic end of her last relationship, she has made it clear that her 12-year-old daughter, Betsy, is her priority. Denise said: “For me, making sure Betsy is really okay is the main thing.
“I’m worried that she’s okay and it will affect her in the future. As sensitive as I am, I’m a tough old cookie.
“I’m not willing to compromise my morals and beliefs just to be in something. I always believe good will eventually come.”
Denise also admitted that she was initially not ready for therapy, but later changed her mind. She said: “If someone had asked me a few months ago if you were doing therapy, I would say, ‘I don’t need it’ because I still think I’m pretty good at solving problems. myself. But I think, ‘Well yeah, I have to be open to that because I want to know more about myself.’
As for the search for love, Denise recovers slowly, but with caution; the star confessed to Fearne that she recently downloaded a dating app. She said: “I downloaded a dating app the other day but didn’t go.
“I’m too scared. I downloaded it, then I felt really uncomfortable and thought, ‘I don’t know if I can do this’.
“I know it’s the modern way but my morals, my values, the way I approach relationships, it’s so old fashioned. That’s also one of the problems I probably have.
In May, Eddie admitted to sending up to 20 sex messages to other women behind Denise’s back. Although he has now expressed regret over his actions, Denise is adamant that she will never get back together with him, despite the backlash from some members of the public.
Denise said: “I went to the post office and the woman behind [the counter]she’s a lovely woman, but she was like, ‘How are you?’
“She said, ‘I think you should get back with him.’ I thought, you don’t even know what happened, because no one knew at the time. I literally had want to scream and say, ‘No’.”
